Retired & Traveling
We arrived into port around 8:30 am, but our tour wasn't until 12:30, so we had another free morning. We grabbed a quick lunch and met up with our group for the tour. We boarded a small bus that took us to Europa Point, the southernmost tip of Gibraltar. I was thinking that since we were in a part of Great Britain, we would have an English (British) guide. Not so. He was an older man who was Spanish and I wasn't all that impressed with his knowledge. :( Our next stop was to ride the cable car which takes you straight up the side of the mountain to the top. We arrived and were greeted by the Barbary Apes, a breed of monkey that inhabits the area. They were quite entertaining and we were warned that they would grab your bags, purses, etc if you weren't careful. We saw one who got into the cafe/gift shop and stole someone's tuna sandwich!! He didn't want to share with the others, but they are quick b*****s and got some anyway. It was an overcast day, our first wouldn't you know, and we couldn't see the Atlantic side at all because of the fog. It's amazing how they pack in houses and businesses into the steep hills--the roads are incredibly tiny and I'm guessing all must be one way. They also drive on the right side of the road unlike all of the rest of the U.K., our guide said it was changed to the Spanish way of driving in 1929, since most of the residents are from Spain. We left the cable car and toured The Great Siege tunnels. We had a VERY steep climb of 200 meters to get to the entrance , I about died. LOL Then we descended quite a ways into the caves, which meant another walk back UP. This was my least favorite thing we did. Last was a trip to the glass making factory. I was tired at this point and just wanted to get back to the ship. I did wander around inside, though, and saw a man making glass, as well as a lot of items for sale. Once back aboard, we had a glass of wine on the balcony and then got ready for formal night. It's fun to see everyone all dressed up. I went back to our room to read (got notice that my ebook is almost due), Rich went to the hot tub, and the Honnerts were going to try the show, which was a quartet of ukulele players. Can't wait to hear how that was. :)

Traci Too funny about the monkey stealing the sandwich. I need one to follow me around - might help me lose this baby weight faster lol
