ColoUR War - Day Two and Three
Wow we wo wah - As Borat would say.
Colour War is INTENSE!
Basically for the last two days I have has a huge amount of work to do, and the kids an other staff members have had days PACKED with sporting games and activities.
There was a track meet on day two which was bascially an athletics carnival! Then on Day Three there was a Swim meet. Also the kids were playing about three different sports games a day, trying to creat a whole " artisitc background" for there Grand Sing on day Five - Not even kidding, they are making an almost lide sized replica of the staue of liberty, AND eat/Sleep/ talk and walk. Its crazy, I have no idea how they all do it!
In terms of whos winning, its very close, on day two White was winning by 4 points and then on day three bluw was winning by about 20 points so it makes the competition that little bit more exciting.
I have been working no stop, because I have to film all the activites in the day and then I have to edit them everynight for the next day so it is crazy! Thank goodness Colour War is only 5 days long! What makes it worse is I am on some kind of drug for my leg ( was stung by a wasp/spider/creutre from hell and it swelled up to the size of a pancake - i have photos) and the drugs make me so so drowsy
Last night was an activitey called Chariot Race - Which is a HUGE deal here. Basically the two oldest Bunks in camp get there own activitey in Colourwar, almost a " sending off" symbol. The Welsley girls get the Chariot Race.
It was very intense, the girls all lined up in their teams and walked into the field house hand in hand and sat down in a circle. As I have learn here at camp EVERYTHING is tradtional. The girls all worse thir hair in the exact same braid - the one they have used every year, and sat in the same place. Its really weird.
The competition began and the girls had to run out onto the oval and grab peices of the chariot one by one and bing them in. Thay all then had to build the chariot with no insturctions, and only seeing it build once before. It was so crazy, both teams where on the side line cheering and scream and the girls were very serious - In the end the white team won by a long run. But both teams cried in the end. I guess its a sad moment because its their speical goodbye - It was explained to me that your whole life at camp you are waiting to be in the chariot race and then I guess they have finally done it and it symbolises the end of you life at camp which when you think about it is actually a pretty sad thing!
Anyway - I have to sit sown an edit it now! and try not to fall asleep!
wish me luck!
