Well we're here in Pushkar!!!
After a very pleasent bus journey (3 hours approx) on newly laid roads and making a small stop in Ajmer we arrived. The approach is down a mountain called Snake, I guess it takes it name from all the bends. We got off the bus and a hoard of men approach us giving us cards for accomodation to stay. Pushkar is know to be touristy and the guest houses out number the 400 milky coloured temples. Its an important Hindu pilgrimage centre, with one of the world few brahma temples. The town clusters around the main lake where there are numerous ghatts (holy bathing steps). The town is accessable solely by foot. We get to our guest house with the aid of a man called john. The White house is recommended by Lonely Planet and we can see why. White washed walls lovely coloured lanterns and a balcony. It also has a roof top restraunt which has graet views. We decide to have dinner there and it was very tasty, but the garlic is very very strong.
The next day we decide to have breakfast on the rooftop and then venture into town. The place seems very sleepy and has bazaars full of clothes, bangles etc. We got acosted by a group of ladies who put henna on our hands, they done both our hands explained how poor they were then requested rs500 per hand. I said no and managed to get away with paying rs400 in total. If your're ever in Pushkar and you see these ladys do a runner cos they can hit you hard. We did however buy some neclaces and beads and I bought a top to keep cool.
We returned to our hotel and relaxed. Again we decided to have dinner on the rooftop and just chilled. I tell you the drink LIMCA is very refreshing. We sat on a swinging chair and could see a storm coming in the distance. We then had a power cut, the wind picked up and then it started raining. Very romantic but also annoying as we had to play scrabble by torch light.
The next day we booked our bus ticket to Jodpur through the hotel and had breakfast. Ellie had nuttella pancake and I had beans on toast with cheese and mushrooms. I think we will take a walk later and take some pics. We'll possibly have dinner here tonighjt aswell.
Our bus leaves at 7am and takes 5 hours so no doubt our next update will be from Jodpur.
