So we reached Cochin on Thursday, this is our last port of call in India!! We are staying in Fort Cochin, Cohin itself is made up of three different places, and Fort Cochin is like a little Island. Its very pleasant here and reminds us of a mixture of an old English town with a bit of the medditeranean thrown in! We are staying in a very cute place and the owner looks a bit like Christopher Lloyd. On the shores here there are Chinese fishing nets that are used every day at high tide, we had a walk down to look at them nd got invited to have a go lifting them out the sea! We looked at the fish they had caught aswell.
On Friday night we went and saw a Khatakali performance, Khatakali is a very skilled play to music. All the actions of the actors are through specific facial expressions, the eyes play a very important part of it too. There are other actions the performers do aswell. It takes about 8 years for the actors to perfect all the movements so its quite an art. We thoroughly enjoyed the performance and found it quite funny in places because of the acotrs bulging eye movements!!
Last night we decided to have a special meal as it was our last proper night in India and we went to a place called Malaber junction, the food was lovely but we forgot that posh places serve measly portions!! We payed a whopping 12 quid for our meal - very expensive considering we have only been spending about 2 quid maximum at other times! It was nice to be served by men in bow ties though!!
So we are off to Singapore tonight, we think we are leaving at just the right time as the monsoon seems to have arrived, it rained all night and most of today and its extremely humid!
Can't wait for Singapore!!!!!!!
