First time since the day we arrived in Nacala that we have seen heavy rain. The rainy season was due! Mind you, complain as I did about it in Malawi, it made for a cooler sleep in Mozam. Three German women and a Swiss couple arrived yesterday and it turned out two of the Germans were actresses! Nice women but one moaned that her coffee (that I made) wasn't strong enough!
Later in the day I completed my confined water dives and learning all the skills (I'd crammed five dives into two long sessions). A couple of things needed repeating but I did things fairly well and fast.
Weather was dodgy again, wanted it to return to normal asap!
Jack, Martijn and I continued painting the outside walls but got bored and decided to go on a snake hunt! Lifting up all kinds of rocks and foliage, the finds included lots of millipedes (one monster about 30cm long and as thick as a big carrot) red ants parading the trees, a bat in a derelict building, a deadly fat-tailed scorpion, a black scorpion (not the legit name), spiders, a big lizard in the trees and the boys saw another green-spotted bush snake. If I haven't mentioned, we harassed one in the campers' shelter for ages the other day. It was slithering everywhere and keeping one eye on us when we were below!
I got out of dishes for the evening and received a lot of useful info from Bash ahead of our trip to India. We then joined the South Africans down the beach for a few drinks around a fire.
Flying termites were in full force tonight, we had to shut the doors for a while because there were so many getting in our faces and hair etc. They did the same in Malawi and under the street lamps and in all the sinks and showers they would be plagued with dead termites or their shed wings.
