Jack and I decided to do a fitness morning doing pull-ups off a big tree and doing press-ups. I then did the next step of my Open Water dive course by watching the dvds and having completed the book. Whilst everyone was away diving or in town, I was lumbered with running the complex for a few hours in the day. A family of Portuguese turned up and unable to speak any Portuguese (other than some basics I've picked up), I had to attend to them. Lucky for me, their lad spoke reasonable English. The place was getting hectic and I had to make decisions so I served them food as the cook agreed to do it. When PJ got back she wasn't very happy as Libelula isn't supposed to be open to the public in the week but because they expressed an interest in staying at the accommodation, I served them. She wasn't happy, but they ended up spending 3000 meticals (£60) in one sitting and then stayed for a further three days splashing the cash. The guy was ordering like two beers at a time for himself and a double whiskey after every meal for him and his lad!
The owner's pets are pretty cool. There are two dogs and two cats but one of the cats is like vermin. It just gets in the way all the time and we didn't take a liking to it. In fact, even PJ told us to throw it in the pool and martijn nearly obliged to the task. The RSPCA won't like that, but hey, it's Mozambique.
The cat killed and ate half a squirrel the one day, but when it came to a pregnant mouse living in the roof the cat was useless! I had to get it in a bucket and release it a few hundred yards down the road but it still found its way back as expected!
Staying in one place for a while, you quickly get to learn about the local wildlife and in the last couple of days I have come across mantis', stick insects, crickets, snakes, lizards galore, big Ichneumneon wasps, giant bees, spiders and millipedes.
Oh, on the back of PJ's leg, she has a huge infected spider bite sustained when we first arrived. It is hideous with puss and blood and the doctors obviously don't know how to deal with it because it's getting worse!
Found out England retained the Ashes, good news apart from I had seen one ball of the whole series. And buzzing about us beating Villa!
A busy night indeed serving customers.
