Manic day preparing breakfast and taking stuff up and down the beach. We gave our guns a serious working climbing 200 steps up and down to the beach a dozen times or so!
PJ rollocked me and Jack for going snorkelling saying she could employ 10 locals for what it costs for us, but we got our wires crossed about our tasks for the day. Jack was close to giving her both barrels and I was explaining that she had given the wrong orders. She then targeted me saying how I wanted a lie-in after sitting in the sun all day the previous day! Cheeky considering I was the one CONSTANTLY asking for jobs to do and looking to help out. So we got back to it whilst Martijn and 13-year-old girl Natasha were playing down the beach. She half-apologised because she seemed to be just stressed considering the busy night ahead.
It was also Ian's birthday so I bought him a few JD and cokes because that was about all I could offer and we ended up having a half-decent night. Drinking Amarula, Bells, Grouse, Rum in coconuts, vodka jelly shots and a super steak, prawn and fish supper did the trick. Worked hard serving people and tidying up after everyone all night but Jack got to do his champagne-bottle-opening trick.
It wasn't the worst new years ever but it would have been nicer to have some family or your mates or a girlfriend there, especially with the romantic couples on the beach overlooking the bay lit up by the moon….
Marshmallows on the braai were tasty, but for some reason my body wasn't agreeing with these delicious barbecues and I kept having to disappear up the hill. Bad times.
In the extremely hot, sweaty tent we had been sharing for the last few days, we had been managing but on the first morning of the new year, Jack had had a few too many and gave the ants some work outside our tent….bluhhhhh.
