Ok so when I got up this morning it was to mum wanting the camera in a hurry. I passed it over and rolled over to go back to sleep. Next thing I knew mum is telling me to go outside so she can show me something. I was not happy. When I finally did go outside it was to look at the mountains. We were told that it was Mt cook and it was covered in snow. It was really beautiful. Then our neighbors that were from Brisbane told mum that it was a beautiful day to go out to lake mathersen It is known as mirror lake. So off we went. We drove there and started on our hike. The interesting thing is that the sign said that it would take us about 40mins on foot return. When we finally got there I went to take some pics while mum sat chatting with a lady. When I came back mum told me that there is a better lookout only 7mins walk from where we were. So off we went again. Well the 7mins took quite a bit longer. Yes it would of been a 7min walk for anyone if the ground was flat. I have never walked up and down so many hills. But eventually we got there. So off again I went to take some pics. I came back and mum had been talking to someone else and they told her that there was a great lookout just around the corner and up a few stairs. So off we went again. The walk around the corner was on a wooded bridge that.... Yes was on flat ground. We got around the corner and......... Damit there were 3 big flights of stairs. I said 'this better be worth it' so up we went. It was incredible. The view was breathtaking. We stayed there for quite a while. When we came down the stairs there was a sign. Turn right (back the way we came) 45mins to the carport or go left 40mins. We stood there thinking. Should we go back the way we came? Better the track we know then the one we don't. Or do we go the other way because it is faster? A couple came from the track we didn't know so we asked what the track is like. They said that there was one little hill then everything was downhill. So we decided to take the track unknown. Big mistake. We shouldn't take a kiwi's opinion because everything is a quick easy walk to them. We met this nice couple. They chatted to us all the way back to the entrance. They told us abot how they met and that they were both on holidays and he was trying to chat her up in English and trying really hard. She asked him if he would be more comfortable if they spoke in German? He was speechless. They have been together 10 years in September. We left the lake and headed to Wanaka. Our trip took quite a while cause mum kept making me pull over to take pics of the mountains with snow on it. But we finally got there. We got to the motel to book in, to find that they had written in the book that we had cancelled. Then they said that they would put us in a 2 bedroom apartment off sight. So off we went. Well we got a 2 bedroom place alright. No thermal spa so I'm not really happy at the moment, but at least I have a bed. Ok going to Queenstown tomorrow so off to bed.
