This will come as a shock to you all....we had an early start this morning!!!! We are heading to Queenstown for the weekend for my birthday....yay! Kym woke all of us up at 6 and it wasn't long before we were on the road, although not before we stopped off at McDonald's for a take-away breakfast. From what I saw off the drive it was beautiful (most of the time I was sleeping...it's what I do!) we saw Mt Cook several times as Kym kept screaming that it was the mountain just ahead of us...with every mountain that we saw!
We had a fair few toilet breaks but our first main stop was Lake Tekapo, the views of the mountains and the lake were stunning!
After about 6 hours we finally reached our destination, parked the car and checked into our hostel. We had a good look around and decided that we all loved it here...the views were amazing and the town was busy....Chris was defiantly eager to hit the slopes!
I was told it was time to head back to the room and get ready for the night as the guys had a pre-birthday surprise arranged... You can only imagine my excitement! We headed up behind the central part of town and rode the gondola up the mountain.... Queenstown looked amazing at night! When we reached the top all was revealed... We were seeing a Hakka show and then going for a buffet dinner, being a buffet master I was going to be in my element :)
The show was brilliant...we learnt some Maori and also got dragged up on the stage to learn some moves....Mark had the best Hakka face, especially compared to Chris just sticking out his tongue....hahaha. We girlies had to learn to use the pom poms in a dance routinue...due to my dance background I was totes the bees knees!
After the show we went to dinner...it was good but not worth much blog space! We were all full and ready for bed by this point but tomorrow is another day.
