Master of Logistics Management (Gentlemen, That's a Wrap vol. 2)
OKAY! This is how it ends. With a bang. Yesterday, at 3.55pm Eastern Australian time, I finished my last exam ever. It was only convenient to run out of ink with my pen during the LAST sentence in the paper. The exam itself went well. I was a bit distracted throughout the week as Riku and (Hurricane) Wade came to visit for their power trip. The day before the exam we rented a Holden Astra convertible and drove up to the Blue Mountains. It was just as I remembered - only a lot hotter. 30+ sunscreen means nothing down here if you expose yourself to the sun enough…driving in a convertible all day wearing sleeveless shirts was enough.
What started in February is now completed in the late November. I guess I have to make the famous remark about how quickly everything's gone again. That's how it seems looking back, "connecting the dots". Eight units of study, some very good, some not so. Nonetheless, professionally speaking I hit…if not the bulls eye then at least the double 20 and will be looking at around 80 % average overall. Very pleased with that. I was fortunate to work with great people from all over the world that certainly contributed to the success we had. A big thank you also to the lecturers at the Sydney Uni Institute of Transport and Logistics studies. It has been a privilege.
The temperatures in Sydney have reached very unpleasant levels lately. Tomorrow, 39 degrees forecasted. It is way too much especially since we don't have air conditioning here. Room temperatures above 30 degrees certainly wake you up pretty early. In the meantime, the bush fires have also been worse than ever in Victoria and South Australia, just north of Adelaide. Now they are reaching parts of New South Wales as well; all the way to the western suburbs of Sydney. The heat and the frequent thunderstorms make it a lot worse. Luckily, we live near the beach.
So now what? That's what I'm trying to figure out. I will just enjoy this weekend to the max and then this upcoming week I was asked to work at least four days so that should keep me busy. Also, some more people are coming over to visit. Other than that, I will enjoy my last four weeks in Sydney. The beach, the sun, friends that are leaving…the whole story. Then, I will have probably sit down with my boss over here and see what the deal is. Right after I land in Helsinki, I will do the same with my previous employer and maybe do some further probing as well concerning the job market. Whatever the decision will be, it will include giving up something you really like. But I guess that's life. Gotta close the door behind you to be able to walk through another one. Just need to make sure it's leading somewhere I have not yet been to.
Btw, this was not my last entry. I'll keep you posted on the proceedings over here for the remaining month. Check out the new pics and enjoy the approaching holiday season.
CHEERS!
