Back to where we started from
Here we are again in a very similar situation with last February when I was writing my first blog entry from London Heathrow. Now I am typing an entry from Shanghai International while waiting for my connecting flight to Sydney to start boarding. Yet another 11-hour agonizing journey ahead of me. Hung-over, tired as hell, pissed off at this constant waiting…was it really worth it to go back for only two weeks? Hell yeah.
Things are so much different now. When I was traveling to Sydney last time, I had no clue how things would work out, where I would live and whatnot. This time I'll simply take a cab to Coogee, have some breakfast and fall asleep on the couch before taking a bus to the evening lectures. We have a good bunch of people there and I also work. Now that I reflect on this…quite a bit has happened in only a few months. I now have two homes.
How could I begin describing my month off (Winter break)…simply put: AMAZING. Skiing at the Australian Alps in the early July, seeing WWE LIVE at the Acer Arena, traveling in the middle of South Pacific to explore Vanuatu and finally flying back home to see friends and family. Can't get much better than that. There's so many details that I cannot possibly talk about all of them. Let's just say we sure made the most of everything. During my short stay in Finland I managed to do exactly the kind of things I had missed - namely, hanging out at the legendary Bachelor's Box in Karzi, spending time with friends at our summer cottage and also in Estonia, playing incredible Tennis games at Tali, experiencing the northern summer in all its brightness and much, much more. No need to mention names here, you know who you are. THANKS!
So what's next? It will be an adjustment getting back to the old routines but I expect it to go a lot faster this time. There's no shortage in things to do, that's for sure. School starts full throttle right after I land, and so does work. Needless to say, I am expected to contribute for both. I think it's also time to finally have the house-warming party at our place. It's a bit strange to say at this point that there's only about four months left here but that time will go by so fast. What happens then is an interesting question. Anything's possible and I suppose totally up to me. That's a comforting thought. I will surely keep you posted.
Before I board on my flight to Sydney, I will finish this entry off with some words an old friend sent us years ago: "I love you guys - in a non-homosexual way".
Take care of yourselves.
Cheers!
