Day 50 - Karijini National Park to Cape Range National Park
Cape Range National Park, Western Australia
Day 50 - Karijini National Park (Dales Campground) to Cape Range National Park (Tulki Beach Campground) - 728km/10.5hrs
Today marks 7 weeks on the road and we have driven 11,526 kilometres!
We have a huge driving day today so we were up at 4:30am and on the road by 5am.
Around 5:30am we saw lots of miners heading to work. There were about 15 cars and buses and it was like it was peak hour!
We enjoyed watching the sunrise behind us and the mountains were all glowing red - it was very pretty.
We fuelled at Tom Price and then unfortunately our Navman sent us down a dirt road. Thankfully it was in great condition so we kept driving on it but once we stopped we had broken safety glass all over the caravan floor and we can’t work out whats broken (we think maybe the oven door) and one of the shower screen doors had fallen out. We were so shocked as the road wasn’t rough at all.
We finally got back onto the bitumen and it was a pretty uneventful drive with very few cars on the road. We had to slow down a few times for cattle that were close to the road. We also had a kangaroo on the road and a wedge tail eagle next to the road.
The drive was long and not much to see. When we arrived in Exmouth we filled up the car and then went to get groceries. Of course we went to the small IGA (with limited stock) instead of the big IGA. Who would of thought Exmouth would have 2 IGA’s!
We then continued our drive into Cape Range National Park and finally arrived at Tulki Beach Campground (site 8) at 3:30pm. After 10.5 hours driving the kids did so well and didn’t complain once. They were actually very quiet which made the drive much easier.
I then took the kids for a walk along Tulki Beach while Rog chilled in the caravan. The water was choppy but we saw some sea turtles, stingrays, a black tip reef shark and some big fish were jumping out of the water so Josh thinks he saw a bigger fish. We had a paddle in the water and then headed back to the caravan for an early dinner.
We were watching a movie and were all half asleep and then the camp hosts came over to confirm our booking and introduce themselves.
