Day 72 - Denmark to Albany
We went for a morning walk to Ocean Beach and then played a family game of putt putt golf.
We then packed up and left Denmark around 10am for our drive to Albany.
First stop was The Gap and Natural Bridge. Both very amazing with boardwalks and a platform over the Gap so you could really see the waves pounding into the cliff.
We then drove to Goode Beach and it was stunning (just like Hyams Beach) with white sand and crystal clear and turquoise water. The kids swam and the boys fished. Josh caught a whiting and Rog caught a flathead. We spent a couple of hours here but then the wind picked up and it was time to go. I’m glad we saw it whilst it was calm as it wasn’t as pretty when it was all choppy.
We then unhitched the caravan so we could drive through an artists property to look at chainsaw carvings. There were mostly animals and people. They were fantastic and the artist is very talented. The kids wanted to go and meet him as he was working in the shed but we didn’t disturb him.
We then filled the car and hitched on the caravan and drove to the National Anzac Centre. This is where over 41,000 Australian & New Zealand WW1 troops in over 50 ships departed from on the 1st November 1914. We walked around and admired the views of King George Sound and looked at the Princess Royal Battery (old cannon), WWII control bunker, Lewis gun pits, Naval guns, torpedos & missiles and heritage buildings.
We then drove out of Albany and admired the beautiful bright yellow fields of canola. We stopped at Green Range Rest Area around 5:30pm.
