Unfortunately I didn't sleep well at all last night. Roger and I both woke up at 11:30pm as the wind was howling and we had the clothes line outside. So we quickly went out to collect all our things and bring them in and the wind kept howling all night and all day until about lunch time.
I got to watch a beautiful sunrise over the Cape Range National Park and end the day with a beautiful sunset over the Ningaloo Reef and the Indian Ocean.
We had a lazy morning in the caravan (playing with lego and playing the memory game) and Roger went and did the 3km Mandu Mandu gorge walk. The kids played around our campsite and the kids both had lots of fun playing with Ruby again. We went for a walk down to the beach and the kids collected more shells (they are obsessed and we have so many!). Roger went for a fish and then we had lunch.
After lunch we drove to Mangrove Bay Bird Hide which takes you to a bird hide where you can observe some local and migratory birds in coastal mangrove swamp. We saw a few birds and some pelicans and then we walked towards the beach and saw our first reef shark. It was in really shallow water which meant Josh could see it too which was great.
We then continued driving to Turquoise Bay and went for another drift snorkel. Again we really enjoyed it and saw lots of different fish. It was pretty choppy so we didn't stay too long then we headed back to our campsite 'Mesa'. We hitched the car/caravan ready for an early departure tomorrow.
The kids couldn't wait to play with Ruby again so we all went for another walk to the beach and while the boys fished the kids played in the sand dunes and collected more shells. Whilst the boys were fishing we saw a sting ray and a big shark only a few metres off shore. It freaked Rog out a bit as he had been fishing in the water up to his chest!
We had an early dinner of BBQ steak and then relaxed with a glass of wine on the sand dunes watching the sunset. Had a quick chat to the other campers at the nightly happy hour then said our sad farewell to Ruby, Kaylene & Chris (a lovely family that we have spent 4 days/nights with).
The outside car temp registered 31 degrees today!
We have a big driving day tomorrow and heading for Tom Price.
