We had a slow morning and left the caravan at 8:30am. We went for a walk along cable beach, collecting a few shells and paddling our feet and then we decided to change into our swimmers. The kids had a quick play in the park and then it was back to the beach for a swim and play in the sand.
Josh found a large hole that someone had dug out so he thought it was great sitting in there while the waves washed in. He also enjoyed catching the waves in with his floatie on.
Bronte had a little play in the water trying to catch a wave in like Josh but she got a wet face so decided she didn't like it so instead she kept filling up her bucket with water.
Cable beach is 22km long and actually has quite a few rocks on the beach and the sand is kind of a white mud so not as nice as I was expecting.
We left the beach around 11:30am and then headed to Chinatown. We went to the Sun Pictures (which is the original open air cinema where you sit on deck chairs. It was built in 1916. There was lots of memorabilia to look at too including old projectors etc). We had an ice cream and a cheese & bacon roll and then we continued on to see the remaining pearl lugger, lot's of pearl shops, the shell house (which has an amazing museum of shells - just a bit tricky to look at with 2 young kids!), the hard hat diver and we saw the worlds largest fine quality round pearl (it is white/pink in colour, 22.24mm diameter, 70mm circumference and weighs 15.75 grams - it was lovely to look at!). We then headed back to the caravan.
We then had to take the caravan in for a check as the tyres have been wearing really bad. The good news is we got our caravan back at 5pm and we now have a brand new set of tyres on the van but the bad news is we don't have a resolution as to why they are wearing.
Whilst we were waiting for the caravan we drove to the Port and walked out on the jetty and watched lots of people fishing, then we played on the beach and headed back to collect the caravan.
It was happy hour with singing, music and poetry tonight at our caravan park so Rog took the kids while I cooked rissoles for dinner. I took our dinner down to eat at the happy hour but only got to hear the last 3 songs. Bronte loved it and was up dancing.
It was then time for showers and quiet time with more adventures in Broome tomorrow.
