Today was quite a long drive from Gudvangen to Oslo. The first half of the drive was incredibly scenic, going through snowy mountains and next to frozen lakes! We stopped for 2 minute noodles right on the edge of a lake which was pretty beautiful. The weather was lovely too! We reached Oslo at about 3:30 and drove around for a while trying to find street parking close to where we were staying. Once we eventually found parking we nipped to the supermarket and then headed to the apartment. We were staying with friends of Calvin's from the YMCA in Northern Ireland, Emily (Woody) and Sean, who are both Australian but have been living in Oslo for a number of years. We chatted at their apartment for a bit and then we all walked into the city for an icecream and sightseeing. Along the way we saw Akershus Castle and Fortress which had a nice view over the harbour, and we saw the Oslo Opera House. It was getting pretty cold and windy by this stage so we walked back quite briskly so we could chat in the warmth of Emily and Sean's cozy apartment. Emily and Sean then cooked us a yummy chicken, rice and vegetable dinner! And to top it all off we even had tim tams for dessert!
