Soongies' Great Adventure
We woke up very early this morning as we had to get the 9:30 ferry from Sućuraj which was on the other side of the island to where we were staying in Hvar. The drive to Sućuraj took about 1.5 hours and the roads were very windy and narrow a lot of the way. We ended up arriving in Sućuraj about half an hour early so we decided to look at the town - it was a ghost town!!! So that lasted about 5 mins. The ferry ride from Sućuraj to Drvenik took about half an hour. It was then a 2.5 hour drive to Dubrovnik. The scenery was beautiful with the coast right beside us. There were also numerous fresh produce stalls along the roadside - local farmers with lots of citrus at the moment. We had to go through Bosnian passport control and then later on Croatian passport control as some of the drive was through Bosnia. Once we arrived in Dubrovnik we checked into our nice Airbnb apartment and then walked to the bus stop to catch the bus the short way to the old town. We clearly had no idea when to get off the bus as another passenger told us, when we were still sitting down, that this was the last stop! A quick stop at the tourist office and we were told that one of the streets in the old town was currently blocked off as a Robin Hood movie was being filmed! We walked on the walls surrounding the old town with incredible views of the city and of the coast. We could also catch glimpses of the movie filming street. Unfortunately we didn't run into anyone famous though. We Googled the movie afterwards and turns out it was highly likely we were very close to seeing Jamie Foxx and Leonardo Di Caprio (producer)!! We did see a few extras walking around though! Old town was nice to walk around but so many shops were closed - the movie filming added most of the vibrancy to the place. After wandering through Old Town it was time to get some lunch from the bakery - we couldn't go past a traditional Burek each. Then we caught the bus into the Lapad area where we went for a nice walk through gardens and along the coast, stopping of course along the way for an icecream. On our way home we stopped off at the supermarket for dinner supplies. Calvin made rice porridge with grilled veggies - delicious! And one whole cabbage!

kentishclan OK... that's pretty darn cool!
kentishclan Ahh yes... cabbage the sole 'green' of European winter. Good thing your a married couple and very 'comfortable' with each other. Could be awkward if your were newly dating or something. Did you love Dubrovnik? Pretty darn cool place
soongies Dubrovnik was awesome! Walking the walls was great. And seeing some of the Robin Hood sets was cool. Didn't get to see Jamie Foxx or Leo Di Caprio though.Cabbage is delicious!
