Not the best night sleep for me so we are up and ready to go by 9am. We contact our host and she come earlier as we have asked for us to hand the keys over.
Arriving at The Balos Hotel around 1130 we check in and are given a welcome drink whilst we wait for our room. The hotel is much bigger than I expected and the location is just fab looking out onto the peninsula and Kissamos across the bay. The wind has not eased here and the clouds only just clearing. Our room is on the pool level and our doors open up to the sea in front of us, perfect. We walk 1 min to the pool, a windy, very large pool and read, so enjoying my book, Russ is on his second! The pool is great and we take some swims enjoying the heat of the sun and the let’s say “refreshing” wind!
We had no breakfast nor lunch as such just grazed on what we had brought with us. Russ makes me a nice cuppa of lemon and ginger and brings it round to the pool.
The hotel restaurant is buffet style and I have to, say was very good. The lovely chef introduced herself and talked us through everything there was to offer. For 14 euros it was excellent, having as much as you wanted!
We went up to the bar for one drink and talked to the lady and are now retired, sea glimmering in front of us under the moon light. Ground floor rooms are super, the bed looks straight out into the sea and mountains.
Our calves are feeling a lot better after the Samaria Gorge, we no longer gobble around especially going down steps!
