I am awake again at stupid o clock, 5 am. At 620 I have enough of tossing and turning and open the curtains to see the sun rise. It is most beautiful as still quite dark, the sky lit with red slivers over the peninsula. Russ mumbles give me 5 and I sit outside enjoying the cool air. By 730 we are packed, had a coffee and in the pool. We fly at 3 and don’t have to check out until noon so spend the morning enjoying the last of the heat. Our daughter tells us it was 2 degrees at home and my brother says his colleague had to scape frost off his car! What’s happened to our weather! It was amazing 12 days ago!! We also hear that the weather in Crete is breaking for a few days and will be 12 degrees cooler, brrr doesn’t make going home as bad!

It’s been a different holiday for us in some respects, spending full days on beaches but we thoroughly enjoyed them (except the one of course which you may have worked out by now, I didn’t enjoy.....if there is no snorkelling then Rach gets bored and doesn’t like the beach)!

The 3pm flight was great, the skies virtually all clear so I was able to watch the beautiful landscape beneath me.

It does make it easier going home having our Welsh Spaniels to see who will be over the moon to see us again. I will get so many French kisses off Alf, he is the eccentric one. Then our daughter messages us to say safe flight and so glad you are coming home, we miss you. How absolutely lovely, funny how your children change as they become young adults and I know our Grand pooches will love joining us on our walks and winter ones at that by the sounds of it!

So when will we return to Crete, who knows, especially with us!
My cousins would like to venture on a week’s Greek holiday and will start to look for a suitable island. They are like us (well the normal us) they like to visit places rather than sit on beaches. Any suggestions gratefully received! Russ had suggested Corfu but have read a bit about it and don’t think there is enough history to keep us going.

We do have another holiday planned, planned for over a year, not by us this time but Kuoni, I am hoping on my 50th birthday on 30th October I am going to be “wowed” so watch this space, well Off Exploring for the next adventure.......but you know, I know, we know, that Crete will always call us back....... so, until the next time my fellow Crete lovers ❤️..............
