22/9/17 Gortyna Archaeological site & stressful drive!
One site we have not been to on previous trips and it is well worth a visit and small payment. Not open on Mondays of course as is any other site. It is a large with much to see and many marble statues on display. Very busy, strange for us to be amongst other 'tourists' after our adventures where we find ourselves with very few people.
We went to Lendas beach but it was very crowded and we did not stay that long.
We return, now I am not sure why we returned on this road as it was NOT a road. We were high up and either google map or my map reading took us a dirt track with numerous very tight hairpin bends with no barriers, nothing but extremely steep edges to this single-track road descending down from high to the coast. I was petrified. We made our way very slowly, very slowly in deed. At one point I just wanted to get out and walk! This is becoming a habit! I think we need to stay clear of the white marked roads on maps!!
We spent the afternoon at Galini Breeze enjoying the serenity of our accommodation and for me to destress from the drive back!!
In the evening our hosts invited us to join them at a bar where their friend who accompanied us on our day out was DJ'iing. We got very merry and really enjoyed dancing the night away!
