New Year in Kalgoorlie was starting to look like a bit of a bust. Everyone seemed to be leaving the hostel and going to other places. Jeremy and Emma were in Sydney, Adrian had gone to Perth, Jamie was in Melbourne...it was looking very sparse indeed! However, we made the best of it and a group of us got together for a few drinks on NYE. I will admit though...no night out with me goes without some sort of hitch and this one was no different!
It started off well with all of us playing pool and somehow with suspected divine assistance I managed to beat Scott at pool lol. Geoff's mum and sister came to visit and they had made a massive curry dinner which everyone was tucking into. Someone (I think it was Rob) suggested that we do a shotgun. I think I explained what this was earlier in my blog on an entry for Vietnam and lets just say not many people managed it without spilling any all over the patio! I did...which now makes me sound proper alcoholic...ho hum. A couple people finished work late so they were hammering down the drink when we decided to go into town. Elise and I got out the little black dresses (has to be done for New year) and we walked into town. No sooner had we gotten passed Woolies when we got stopped by the fuzz for having open alcohol. I fell sorry for Cyriel the most because he had only just opened a magnum of cider! A while later (after pouring our drinks in the bin and the fuzz taking our names) we arrived at Gold Bar. The night was getting better and I was in top form dancing on the stage with Elise. New Year was counted in and of course everyone went mental hugging people they didn't know etc. This was all very well till the power cut off and Gold Bar was plunged into total darkness! I also discovered that Grecko got thrown out of Gold Bar and stood in the door refusing to leave till the bouncers gave him a shove out of the door lol. I was much too drunk to be sending out messages or making phone calls on NYE but I did my best to send out a couple to my parents and I had promised to ring Damian. I have no idea what we spoke about but a promise is a promise lol. A little bit of a random star to the New Year but then again...when has my life ever been normal?
A group of us on NYE before midnight.
