After some much needed rest and a good nights sleep I decided to take a look at Nambung National Park which more commonly known as The Pinnacles.

It was only about 20km outside of town but it was still far enough to roast to death in that car of mine which has no air conditioning. It costs $11 every time you enter a National Park in WA unless you buy a park pass which would have been a better option for me since I plan to visit a few in WA but the guy on the gate didn't give me the option. Oh well. I drove inside and as luck would have it there was some cloud cover in the skies. The way the National Park works here is that you can drive round through a makeshift road between the Pinnacles and stop at intervals and take photos, so I did.

They really are a wonder to see, ranging from really small to absolutely massive. You do get better shots in the range when the sun is out though but I took so little photos as it was just too hot in there. I walked about the monuments for a bit and then got back in the oven of a car and drove round the rest of the site. To be absolutely honest I thought it would have been bigger the way some people harp on about it. I was there for less than 2 hours.

I did have some fun on the way back to the hostel though, I stopped at a Kangaroo crossing sign and took some pictures as I had wanted to since I first saw one in WA. Watch this space for more slapstick ones as my travels continue!

I got back to the hostel and emptied out the car. If there is one thing I learned is that driving on a track road leaves loads of dust inside your car and I wasn't taking that chance with my trip to Lake Thetis this evening.

The road was in fact a little dusty but nothing like the one to Hyden. I arrived in time for sunset and walked round the lake looking at the Stromatolites which are some of the worlds oldest living something or other. I was only half paying attention to the signs which had the info on I will admit but they did look like salt rocks in the lake if I am honest. Not the best things to photograph but it did allow me to catch a great sunset from the lake and I got to see some Kangaroos hopping around in the brush behind me.

Tomorrow sees me driving up to Kalbarri, probably yet another riveting drive but it's what you make of it I guess lol.
