The journey from Bunbury to Perth was as expected a long train journey with some samey looking countryside after a while. I did fall asleep on and off and got a little disappointed that we couldn't see the giant Orange in Harvey from the train line.
Arriving in Bunbury I took the free bus into town and went into the very friendly visitor centre to ask for a map and how to get to my hostel. I walked up Cappuccino strip and found the road. I had been told that the hostel would be closed till 4pm so I went for lunch whilst I was waiting. The lady on reception seemed kind of rude in a sense that she couldn't be bothered with me checking in. The hostel itself was nice and they did free coffee and cake at 6.30pm but you had to get there quick to get any cake!
My first night in Bunbury was a quiet one, it was movie night at the hostel so I stayed in and watched a film. I did find it hard to sleep, mainly because it was so quiet outside - go figure! The weather seems to have remained nice despite the taunting from Paul that the weather down South is going to be rubbish!
I got up nice and early to my first full day in town and went for a walk about. First I went to the look out tower and my god it was windy up there! You could see most of Bunbury though which was nice, I did have a little laugh at a couple of these random women who were just running up and down the steps for exercise! I came down and went walking round the inlet. It was a nice sunny day and I got really hot quite quickly! I walked through the ancient Mangroves and saw some of the fish there (fishing is illegal in that area as it's designated as a nursery or something). I walked round and was surprised to see that they have gym equipment all along the inlet, might take advantage of that if I come back to Bunbury for a while longer! I went and donated some things to the Salvation Army and pretty much went back to the hostel. Nothing much exciting in Bunbury to be honest but I went and saw the sunset in the evening. Just got there in time to see it spectacularly set over the rocks and the sea right at the end of the road from the hostel.
Not particularly exciting report from Bunbury but tomorrow I go to Busselton to visit Ruth for a couple days. Surely the buses here are going to be better than in Asia!
The picture is of the sunset from the cliffs / beach in Bunbury.
