Australia day! I met a few people during the week and we all decided in true Aussie fashion to go to the pub for Australia day!

The day started off slow, we had a beer in the hostel before heading down to the beach party at the Roey. It was rammed full of people there for the chase the Ace raffle and soon petered out once it was finished. Claudia, Sergei and I went and played a very bad game of pool before going outside and snagging a table with a beach umbrella to get some shade. A few beers later and we're sat there with an inflatable rubber ring (which I may have borrowed from the Roey) thinking about walking down to the fireworks at town beach where Daniel will meet us when he finishes work.

Town beach seemed close on the map but as we discovered when walking down it was much further away and took much longer to walk there! We did make it in time for the fireworks though which went on for about 20 minutes. I think Daniel was running a bit late but he was nice enough to bring us back to the Roey for some more drinks. We ended Australia day rocking out in the Oasis bar and ended up eating something called Bakwan on the way home. Bakwan is a mix of vegetables which are fried in a batter sort of thing it reminded me of proper vegetable burgers, with actual vegetables in and not those fake meat kind.

It's been a great week in Broome and I have met many nice people but yet again it is time to move on to somewhere else. Monday sees me take in the long drive to Kununurra before heading up to Darwin. Claudia will be a day behind me in her camper so we should hang out again.
