Our Travels
Another leisurely morning and we seem to be doing quite a few of those lately. However, we were determined not to stay indoors all day and decided that a walk to Causeway Bay would be a great idea and we could go and look for some cushions to go with Julie's new cushion covers.
We stopped in at Park N Shop, our local supermarket, for a browse along the way and then set off to walk to Causeway Bay. It is a walk of about 20 minutes on a good day, but the weather wasn't all that nice. Grey and overcast, not exactly raining but damp and spitting in your face. Not too pleasant really!
Causeway Bay is busy at the best of times but we had forgotten that Chinese New Year is only a couple of days away and it was absolute bedlam! Everybody in Hong Kong out doing last minute shopping, wall to wall people everywhere and almost impossible to keep together and push our way through the crowds. Julie doesn't like crowds, and Mum and Simon aren't all that fond of them either but we managed to battle our way to Ikea. We even managed to steer our way through the thousands of shoppers and find some cushions for Julie to buy, so mission accomplished! The queue for taxis was at least a mile long (ish) so we walked back as well, in spite of the weather. Naturally it stopped drizzling just as we reached Happy Valley but that is only to be expected.
After a brief period of recovery from our expedition it was time to get ready to go out for the evening. We had booked to eat in the posh restaurant at the FCC using Simon's 'money-off' birthday voucher so that we could have a smart night out and give Julie the opportunity to dress up a bit. After varied amounts of titivating (some needed more than others!) we were ready to go.
We had a lovely evening and all enjoyed a delicious meal thanks to our wonderful chef at the FCC. Julie tucked into a starter of Serrano ham and Canteloupe melon followed by an absolutely enormous mixed grill which she polished off with relish. Was she full after that? Not a bit of it! She ordered the speciality chocolate souffle and was perfectly happy to wait the 25 minutes necessary for it to be prepared. It was well worth the wait, however, and definitely won Julie's seal of approval ... fantastic!!!
Afterwards we popped into the downstairs bar for ten minutes so that Simon could watch the end of the Chelsea v Norwich game. It ended in a disappointing nil/nil draw. Boo hoo!! Come on Chelsea!!!
