Our Travels
Julie slept very well, and not a trace of jetlag although she still had a nasty cough and cold which she brought with her.
We decided to drive over to Stanley and have a look round. Julie was already getting used to crawling in and out of the Saab. Two door cars are not so much fun when you are the one in the back! It was a lovely drive up over Wong Nai Chung Gap and down through Repulse Bay, but not the sort of weather for having the top down even though there was no rain.
We parked in Stanley Plaza and then had a bit of an explore round the headland. Julie admired Blake Pier, and Murray House which had been moved brick by brick from Central some years ago in 2001. We also found a tiny temple, called Pak Tai temple, down by the rocks and walked down some stone steps just below it where we could see the sea water splashing through and look back over Stanley itself.
We walked back along Stanley water front and went into the village in search of cough medicine. As we came out of the shop Julie spied a parrot. Mum and Simon hadn't seen it but, sure enough, when we looked we saw a beautiful dark green parrot perched on a young woman's shoulder as she shopped. At first we thought it wasn't real, but then it moved! We waited till the woman left the shop and she was happy for us to admire her parrot, whose name was Honey, and immediately handed him over to Julie. Luckily he was a very tame and friendly parrot and very used to be passed to all and sundry. That beak looked very sharp though!
We had a good look round Stanley Market at all the colourful stalls then had a drink in DeliFrance before returning to Happy Valley for an afternoon and evening of DVD's and BBC entertainment. Julie was in her element!!
