Our Travels
Time was passing and we had some shopping to do. After hanging around for an hour at Seasons gym while Mum did some more exercise all three of us walked down into the lanes in Central. In these lanes there are dozens of small shops selling clothes and souvenirs of every kind and Julie was bound to find something she liked. She had been hoping to find a watch and, sure enough, in the first shop we came to she was able to buy a nice, sparkly watch with a pink leather strap at a price which definitely wasn't going to break the bank. At another shop she bought two lovely cushion covers to remind her of her trip. Souvenir shopping all done!
Simon had a meeting to go to so we all went to find the right building and then found a small coffee shop where we could wait until it was time to leave him. Julie and I then went off to find a tram back home. Julie helped to check the label on the front to make sure we got on the right one! When the tram came along we got on at the back, climbed the stairs and found ourselves a seat. It was a slow, leisurely trip back to Happy Valley and gave us plenty of time to look at all the sights along the way. Julie really enjoyed the trip, and so did Amanda. Remind me to take a tram more often!
Back at the flat Amanda hit the kitchen and prepared a huge early dinner of chicken and veggies which went down very well with all concerned. After that we all felt ready for a post dinner nap but no, sorry, we had to get ready to go out again. We wanted to take Julie to see the Symphony of Lights down at the harbour. This is the world's largest permanent light and sound show and has become a must see for visitors to Hong Kong.
We decided to watch from the Hong Kong side just in front of the Convention Centre. We were so afraid of being late that we actually arrived nearly an hour early! It was very chilly and quite damp too so we ended up walking briskly around in a huge circuit to take up the time. We then made ourselves really thirsty and had to go looking for somewhere to buy a drink. It was all such fun (I think).
Anyway, the show started at last and Julie enjoyed listening to the music and watching the lights. The laser show was good too, but it was sometimes lost in the heavy mist. Never mind, at least it wasn't pouring with rain! Afterwards we were glad to get back home in the warmth. Must be getting soft!
