Today was an interesting day. We had a sleep in, which was much needed after the girls night out. We mucked around for the rest of the morning, had lunch and some caked and then decided to head out on a bike ride.
Erminio (my host dad) gave Cecilia instructions of a nice place to go for a mountain bike. Well, I’m Navajo’s words “it was the most adventurous bike I’ve ever been on!”, and that was most definitely the truth. Our ride totalled 22.5km and 1hr 35minutes. During which we crossed 3 rivers (wet feet of course), a farm, a brick bridge with no sides, the most narrow bike tracks (literally the width of the wheel), and a whole bunch of shingle and bush! We had no idea where we were going, but a few cuts, and some wet shoes later we arrived in Lesignano for a quick gelato stop before taking the ride the last 6km home - it felt like we were flying after going through the rest of the track!
When we go home we were all very hot and keen for a shower - it was a 36 degree bike ride! We soon learnt that we definitely went the wrong way and it was only meant to be about 10km, but it was a good time anyhow!
Once we were all freshened up we got ready to go out for dinner. We went to a really nice restaurant - we both had pizza (some different kind of super thick pizza), but we started with a entree of local meats and breads! They were so good, we were nearly full by the time we got our pizza! After dinner we all had a desert - tiramisu and semifreddo, and a coffee.
On the way home we stopped off at a castle for a look around, pretty impressive view as well! It was very strange and people now live in different parts of the castle! Once we had a walk around we headed home, definitely ready for bed!
Early start tomorrow to head to Monterosso.
