Another early start this morning to catch the train to Florence. Though this morning we had one of the fast flash trains and it was a direct train so no need to do any swapping and waiting.

We arrived in Florence and with a bit of maze hunting and confusion we finally found our way out of the station, grabbed a coffee and carried on to start seeing the sights.

We spent the morning look around a lot of the places Florence is famous for, we went to the Cathedral of Santa Maria, the Baptistery, the Ponte Vecchio (the old bridge), Piazza della Signoria, Palazzo degli Uffizi, Palazzo Pitti and the church of S. Maria Novella.

Once we had seen on the sights on our tourist map we stopped for lunch and a drink - not surprisingly we had a pizza!

After lunch we carried on through Florence and did a bit of shopping and looking around! By the time we were finished we had enough time to stop for a drink in a bar and start the walk back to the train station - of course with a quick stop to grab a gelato!

We made it back to the station about perfect timing, found our train and jumped on! Another flash train for half the trip home. We had a stop in bologna and just as we thought our train was about to arrive the notification came over that our train was delayed 45 minutes due to fireman on the tracks because of a previous fire. Thankfully the time went pretty quick by the time we had a look around the shops and grabbed a coffee.

We got back to Parma about 8:30pm and headed home for dinner and then bed!
