Day twenty five - Los Angeles:
After hoping for a bit of a sleep in we were both wide awake talking at 5:30am after I accidentally woke navajo up - I was wide awake from 2:10am after waking up to her going to the loo, and there was no going back to sleep. I spent the movie watching suits and listening to music and then once Navajo was up we both had a bit of a yarn and watched some tv and lay in bed. We got up at 6:30am and headed down for buffet breakfast which Navajo was very excited about. We both had some “biscuits and gravy” trying the true American food.
After breakfast I spent a few hours uploading photos and Navajo went down to the gym and then started to pack. Once we were both showered and packed we headed down stairs to checkout and store our bags for the day while we caught an Uber to Santa Monica.
We spent a couple of hours looking round the pier and then we decided we’d go and watch toy story 4 as we were both pretty shattered and sore! So we made our way up the street to the movie theatre to get tickets and then we had a wee walk on the street which was very nice. We stopped and grabbed a drink and sat in the sun and listened to buskers playing. Then it was time to go to the movie. The theatre was huge and the recliner seats definitely trumped Christchurch theatres! It was a really really good movie.
After the movie we decided we’d head south and see Venice beach and marina del Ray. We made the decision to Lime... unsure if it was wise or not, but it was definitely an interesting experience! We got to have a good look around and then we headed back to the hotel in an Uber. We had a really friendly Uber driver who told us all about living in LA.
We got back to the hotel and got our bags to do a bit of shuffling of stuff to leave and in the process Navajo managed to smash her very cool, brand new bubba gump shot glass. Glass went everywhere and she successfully cut her ankle too. So the next half an hour was a bit silent as we headed to the airport.
We got to the airport and checked in very easy and headed straight through security. By this point we were both a bit hungry so we got some Panda Express - as requested by Jarrah and Sequoya, it was very good and filled the hole in our stomach. We sat around for a bit and then with 2 hours till boarding we made our way slowly to our gate. Unfortunately for us we were at the gate with busses.
When it was time to board went got through the gate and onto the bus where we stood for a long time waiting for the last passenger. Then it was a rather long bus ride to the plane where we got on to fine we had another sky couch row, but this time we had to share one seat with a very interesting lady - at least we could still put our feet up!
We took off 45 minutes late due to feuling and the very long taxi across the runway before we could take off.
