This morning we had a rather early start. Cecilia woke up at 5am so we were pretty much awake since then. The two of us got up at 6am and got ready to head to Venice. We left home at 6:30am, picked up Benedetta (Cecilia’s friend), and then headed to Parma train station. We caught the first train at 7:25am and had an hour on the first train before we got to Bologna.
We got off in Bologna, grabbed a quick coffee, and made it to our next train to Venice. The second trip is a lot longer than the first, but we finally made it into Venice. We got out of the station and headed to the water taxi to get the boat into the centre of Venice. It’s so strange seeing a city with no other transport than boats and walking. We got to see a bit of the city from the main canal as we headed into the main square
We got off the boat and made our way into the main square. We had a look around and then made our way to meet the Slee’s. WHAT A COOL PLACE FOR A CATCH UP! After a quick catch up on the street we continued our walk around Venice in the 35 degree heat.
We had s bit of a lot around and then decided it was time to stop for some good and a cold drink. We stopped at a restaurant right beside the Rialto bridge, pizza and pasta all around and some beers and cold drinks for everyone as well. After lunch we made a plan to head for a bit more of a look around and some more photos before getting to the Slee’s apartment with some air con! It was a nice wee break out of the heat!
After a break and a good catch up, the four of us girls headed back out for a look around the rest of the city, and a bit of a look in the shops. Once we were back at the water front we had a drink in the bar before we headed back on the water taxi to the train station. We had a bit of time to grab some food and sit down before the train arrived.
The first train was nice, a bit of time relaxing and chilling, before arriving in bologna. We had a bit of an issue with train swaps as one train was late which mucked up the rest of the trains, so our train was 15 minutes late, but it was a mission to find out what the go with our train was. When it did finally arrive we were all ready to get on! By this time Navajo was definitely ready to get home, we got to experience not so happy navajo in the 35 degree heat at 10:30pm! And when we didn’t finally get on the train it had no air con! So it was a long, loud train trip back to Parma.
We finally got back to Parma at midnight, and headed home. On the way home we came across a car crash so we had to turn around and take another look around to get home, at the point we were all ready for a shower! When we finally did get home we all piled through the shower! Which felt super nice given the we had been out in the super hot heat all day. Then we all had a wee snack and headed to bed.
We had an awesome day, and an awesome time looking around Venice and catching up with the Slee’s! But we were definitely all ready for a sleep after a 21 hour day!
