Day 66. Up early for the short drive across the Peron Peninsular to village of Monkey Mia on tranquil blue Shark Bay. The dolphins were being fed by the National Parks rangers and we took our place at the water's edge. Soon 5 Indo-Pacific bottle nose dolphins came in very close to feed. Absolutely wonderful as they cruised along the shore. It was then time for a big breakfast at the nearby Dolphin Resort on the deck overlooking the beautiful bay and anchored boats. More dolphins visited close in while we had breakfast. Next we boarded the big blue catamaran 'Aristocrat II' for a 3 hour cruise out into Shark Bay. We visited the offshore Blue Lagoon Pearl Farm and soon after we were seeing many playful dolphins about the boat including rare behaviour where they fix a sea sponge to their nose for foraging on the bottom. Out on the shallow sea grass beds we followed a large dugong as he surfaced for air. Finally a large green turtle surfaced and we followed several other large loggerhead turtles. Back on shore we headed back to Denham stopping at Little Lagoon. Bought some fresh whiting and pink snapper from the local fish factory for dinner tonight. Drove 60km, cloudy mild day 22 degrees with a few spots of rain. A fantastic day!
