Spent the night in Amarillo which was unfortunate because I couldn't get that stupid song out of my head. Had pizza's delivered to our campsite which was a treat. One guy we were talking to was saying how embarrassed he feels because America voted Bush back in again and he actually has a calendar counting down the days until he is gone, he's an Obama man himself.

Chicken s*** Sunday at Ginny's Little Longhorn in Austin was fun!! Before we went to that though we wandered around Austin and went to the Botanical Gardens which was lovely. The wind here is insane, I suppose because it is just a long skinny island. It's a bit resorty, lot's of holiday homes and beachwear shops. So we caught the Wave over to Port Isabel and went up into the lighthouse. The wave is a free bus that you wave to and it stops for you. After deciding to not make a run for it to Mexico we stayed in Terlingua. Here we had to go into the cafe to use the wifi and I got served a huge litre can of beer. Really, everything is bigger in North America. In fact sometimes I struggle shopping for just me and Jim because the sizes of everything are double what we are used to including things like cleaning products. I know a few people who will also be happy to hear that they also have normal size bottle...

So we're in Texas now and yes it is big!! Spent the night in Van Horn and then went off to Fort Davis in the morning. A lot of it was ruins but there were still plenty of intact original buildings and some of them they had fitted out exactly as they would have been in the mid 1880's.
