Loved Memphis. Even though it is the home of the blues we didn't actually go out and see any music, we are still a little partied out from New Orleans.
We did go and see the hotel where Martin Luther King was shot, very eerie. They have a couple of old cars from the time parked out front which really did add to the atmosphere. Unfortunately the day we were there the National Civil Rights Museum was closed.
Walked down Beale street obviously, and then went to Sun studios famous for discovering Elvis and Johnny Cash among others. We did the tour which was really interesting and Jim even stood on the spot where Elvis recorded his first song and held the microphone.
Another obvious Memphis tourist spot is Graceland, so off we went. The house was nowhere near as big as I had imagined and there was some fairly out of date crazy furnishing. The amount of gold records, awards etc is pretty mind boggling and then of course there are his jump suits, don't even no where to begin with them. Jim and I both fell in love with his cars and went green with envy when we got a glimpse of how famous people fly.
