Chicken s*** Sunday at Ginny's Little Longhorn in Austin was fun!! Before we went to that though we wandered around Austin and went to the Botanical Gardens which was lovely. Then caught the bus to the most happening little "dive" bar in Texas. Every Sunday you can buy a ticket and then Ginny puts her chicken in the cage and everyone stands around yelling directions and hoping the chicken will s*** on their number. Unfortunately my number wasn't lucky enough for this honour. There was live music from Dale Watson and the whole place was packed out, even outside people had bought their own chairs and were just hanging out in the carpark. Ginny's motto that she has on the wall is "no cussin, no fussin, no hasslin, no wrasslin"

After that we headed back into town for some more live music, Austin is full of it every night down 6th Street. Saw a guy playing guitar and singing at Maggie Mae's and then on his recommendation went down to Nuno's for some blues. When we got there we found Joe Willie Pinetop Perkins from Muddy Waters flogging CD's. Actually he was more like the attraction and the young guy was flogging the CD's. Naturally we bought one and had it signed by the very shaky hand of 94 year old Pinetop. He seemed sweet and I had to wonder what he thought of the young white Elvis look a like on stage singing the blues.
