Sunday. rain and wind aplenty. Larry watches us through the window as he is blasted by the full force of the monsoon. He shelters under the palm leaves that act like an umbrella ish. Its been like this all day so far (now 3pm) and shows no sign of stopping any time soon. We think Larry is a Kite or an Eagle or something, well there is two Larrys and we think they are building a nest outside the window of our 3rd floor room, in the top of a palm tree. We assume one of them to be Mrs. Larry but they're both Larry to us. (Larry is a black kite see pic, we Wikipedia'd him! N. Ed.)We got up late today, but didn't miss much as the rain made the street outside more of a stream, so we couldn't really go anywhere any how. Madame (the hotel owner) seems to let a Christian group use the "function room" on Sundays, they sing in English and I don't think they understand a word but it makes a contrast to all the Bollywood music we hear coming form the train station "club" (a muddy area with a wall around it) where boys, no girls, dance to deafeningly loud music for the festival of Ganesh that by now must be nearly over. The rest of the day has been spent updating the journal and Talon. We went back to 'Veg Restaurant' and had the yummy korma again but this time with a spicy dal and rice. The best thing we found today was the pineapple juice - yummy. It was the last day of the Gaesh fest today so people are going mental! There are fire crackers and fire works going off everywhere and everyone seems to have a huge ganesh on wheels to drive around either next to a sound system of pumping dance music or a set of blokies with petrol setting fires and doing dragon, with a cough, impressions.
