Happy Birthday Tom Royston!! Xx We were all awake quite early so had breakfast, packed up and hit the road. It was an easy drive today, taking just under two hours to reach Richmond, a town at the base of the Blue Mountains. The dog still objected though and whined for a while before settling on the floor at Anna's feet. Once in Richmond, we found Wanderest, a car park owned by the Richmond Bowling Club that has been set-aside for caravaners. To stay here we had to become members of the club, which cost us $5 for the year. We also requested a powered site for $10 a night otherwise staying here is free! There are toilets and showers here and the car park has boom gate entry so it feels quite safe but it was odd setting up the awning in a car park!! At least we look out onto green parkland. Once we'd set up, Nick took the kids to Woollies to get lunch and do a huge grocery shop while I stayed with the dog. The shop took forever as the town was packed after the long weekend but once Nick got home I went off to the launderette which a huge basket of dirty linen. It was nearly 4 pm by the time I got home and I went straight back out again to the beauticians at the bowling club carrying my free vouchers that we were given as we became members - what a place!! I got home in time for dinner and once the kitchen was cleaned up and the kids were all ready for bed I started an evening of baking - shortbread and lemon and poppy seed cake for a picnic tomorrow. It was 11pm by the time we got to bed and instead of the peace and quiet we've been used to we could hear cars speeding on the highway and the floodlights in the car park lit up the van. A couple of days to get some chores done and then its back to the country for us!!
