Yet another lie in despite the fact that Matty woke everyone up at 530am with his rocking and groaning because his sleeping bag had fallen off and he was cold! We eventually got up around 830am and after a quick breakfast the kids shot off to play and found some new friends who'd arrived late last night. Nick and I did some cleaning around the van but the weather was so beautiful that we dragged the kids away and went to Angourie, a sleepy little village on the other side of Yamba. We parked at Blue Pool, a stunning natural rock pool, and walked over an enormous rock wall that the kids loved climbing on to Angourie Beach. This beach is a surfing Mecca and there were plenty of people enjoying the waves. We had a beautiful long walk along the beach and if we'd had bathers we would all of had a swim! This is the best beach we've seen outside of WA! We eventually came home for lunch, calling into the shops on the way home to pick up supplies for dinner. We spent the afternoon at the water park again and it was nearly dark by the time the kids had had enough. Nick and I sat outside and watched the sun go down over the sugar cane fields at the same time as a thunderstorm was rolling its way towards us. We had just put all the outside gear away when the heavens opened and the thunder and lightning were right overhead. We spent the rest of the night staying dry in the van, with everyone happily playing on their beds!
