All alone in the big wide world
Day 1:
Finally arrived in Manali and thank God in one piece!! Having not slept for over 30 hrs I decided I wasn't wasting a day sleeping and so went for a walk around Manali. It was so peaceful the only people who bothered you were the young guys selling Saffron, with a firm NO! they soon left. Found a place to stay called mountain cafe up would you believe it in the mountains! It only costs 200rps per night but the frciking mattress is rock hard so Im guessing not many good nights sleep will follow!! However the guy that runs it (stoner) is really cool and does all he can to make your stay comfortable! Dan (US) is staying with us and finally my suspisicions were found to be correct as he told me of his boyfriend (God I'm good).
Went to book the jeep to Leh-1100rps but it was leaving at 02.00am on the 25/08/06-2 days! After a hard daying doing nothing I had built up an appetite so went to a place which shows DVD's-ever so peaceful not a word spoken even the waiter whispered as we all sat and watched Oceans 12. This film when watched at home was rubbish to see it here was so good just because of its familiarity!
After a late dinner I decided to go to the Launderette and No Dot Cotton or Pauline Fowler didn't work there. However a little Indian version did, she was lovely....washed and ironed all my clothes for less than 2 quid!!
By 20.00 I was hungry again and the place I ate at earlier was showing Pirates of the Carribean so headed back there! Had Spinach and cheese Momo's- obviousley spinach and cheese in some kind of a rice/pasta shell, they're delicious!!
Back to the room, the mattress was horrible and even had an anti-pee protection sheet on the mattress-what type of people stayed here?? Howver managed to get comfortabl and had a decent nights sleep!!
