All alone in the big wide world
Arrived in Mumbai around 10.30am local time to a real smelly muggy atmosphere. However a really smooth process getting out of ther airport. Thats when the mayhem started-had to fight off three adult beggers trying to carry my bag for me and two little girls asking for English paper money.....wish it was that easy to get money!! The weather was a nice 30 degrees around 80-90 humidity and absolutely hammering it down! Met my driver to take me to my hotel smallest man in the world gave him my rucksack and he nearly fell over! Once in the car we set off for the hotel driving through some very poverty stricken areas, quite upsetting to see the amount of childrn with no clothes at all just sat dying in the rain. Also it was quite a scary area and as I was quite aprehensive I turned into a child and all i could ask my driver was "are we nearly there yet" he replied with 2minutes each of the six times i asked him. Finally arrived at the hotel which was a Comfort inn so quite an escape from the hustle and bustle of the outside world! Into the city for a wonder around to see what Mumbai had to offer. Managed to find a relatively nice place very similar to something like TGI's. Had a local dish which was very spicy but extremely tastey! Met some really cool people also-a girl from Trinidad-Crystal, few English men (always good when your in such a freakishly mental place- Dan, Vishal and Tom, two girls from Canad-Sarah and Erin and a girl from England- Georgina. This is where we discovered India's native beer Kingfisher-its very sweet but very very morish! After 3-4 pitchers each we were all absolutely wrecked and so about midnight headed off for bed. Hope everyone is fine at home and all you guys are missing me yet to find somewhere tro download my photos to cd so i can put them on here as my sister Laura-yes you (lol) didnt pack the usb cable for me!
Take care and speak soon the not so lonely traveller Mike.....
