Lynda and Fred Travels
Well weather has been cool and cloudy this week...they said Thursday would be the best day so we chose Thursday, our last day, do the Cream Trip hoping they were right...a route used in past to transport cream and other items to and from the islands. The trip we took followed this historic path and delivered supplies to the residents in remote beaches and bays. Well we waited all week and booked our Cream Cruise ship for Thursday as it was the only day the weather man predicted sun all week....so we get up in the pitch black and it is cold and cloudy. Never mind, we dressed for winter and had a fabulous day on the bay from 9:30 to 4:00. We stopped at many little islands to deliver their mail...learned a lot more history...including that Captain Cook got killed in Hawaii because they thought he was god coming to punish them for having bad crops that year so they killed him and ate him...everyone was cannibals in those days...he was killed and eaten at sandwich island! We had lunch at a lovely spot where you could climb up the hill and have 360 degree views of the bay! Quite spectacular. We went right through the hole in the rock which was exciting and we saw two very active pods of dolphins...they were plentiful and very playful! Best I have ever seen! Many of the homes are private holiday homes leaving only a caretaker there most of the year! The sun finally came out at 3:00 ready for a beautiful week next week...but alas, we will be home! Jyjygh
