Lynda and Fred Travels
Jet lag....both up before light. Breakfast included in hotel so pigged out on that....boy the Indonesians eat funny things for breakfast....curry...soup...rice...and lots of yukky looking stuff! Fred and I were going to save money by taking bus to sightsee....an ex taxi driver caught us at bus stop and offered to show us the sights for $10....what an offer! So first stop was wholesale jewellers ...very very expensive.....then another wholesale jeweller in china town...yes I succumbed to a bracelet, ring and necklace.....then off to tailors where Fred came out with 2 shirts, two pants and two,shorts.....this saving money by taking buses just did not quite work! And final straw was new camera! Much needed....or was it? Then a tour of Chinatown and little India! So many people and stalls/bargains? We had lunch at Raffles and admired the place then home for rest for Fred and swim for Lynda. We met granddaughter Amanda and Mark in Orchard Street where we saw how the rich live....all the big name stores lit up like it is Christmas! Very expensive! After deciding none of us could afford this we headed off to take a ride in the Singapore flyer....the largest Ferris wheel in the world....very nice...very high....but view was pretty hazy however got a good feel for the layout of the city. Then a Singaporean dinner and off to the night zoo. Other than being extremely hot, it was excellent.....went for ride in audio shuttle ..no lights...just the lights in trees which were set up by zoo....animals of the world as close to you as you could touch almost....no fences or ditches....very very well done! They had two shows... A fire eating show and a night animal show...both very good. Went home tired but with a good appreciation of Singapore.

Pauline Its a wonder you could see anything with the smoke haze coming from Indonesia. Hope you got out before it has become worse. Glad you liked the night zoo.
Annette $10 sounds a great price for a 'Shop till you drop day'. It's exciting buying things you thought you didn't need! Last time I did that, Phil needed a few things from Bunnings! I bought carpet, enough to carpet the whole house. Very, Very, exciting....
