Well we left Christchurch after my morning walk around the suburbs....still very sad! Drove the coast road to Oamaru...not too much coast..in fact none....but lots of sheep and cattle....biggest herds we have ever seen! Got into town about 3pm...found a nice motel...and explored the place! What a beautiful place! It is a colonial town complete with harbour, railway, grain warehouses...all built in Victorian style from local limestone...all the buildings have been restored perfectly and now house restaurants, retail boutiques, galleries and museums. We found a lovely little hotel...the Criterion which we had a drink and stayed for dinner...both had steak and it was so thick and delicious....highly recommend!
