Lynda and Fred Travels
Well we woke up early to go to airport for a 9 am helicopter flight! WeTher was perfect! Clear and warm! Only 3 passengers in a four seater helicopter! We first flew up over Mt Cook which is 12,300 feet high....we then flew over Fox Glacier and Franz Glacier....Franz glacier is the fastest moving glacier in the world and moves 2 to 3 metres a day as compared to most w/w which move 700 ml a day...it might disappear in 30 years. After viewing the glaciers from up high we landed in Franz glacier in snow that was 900 foot deep...so cool! Fred got to sit in the front on way home from stopping! He loved it! We then had a coffee, watched a fil on the glaciers and took a 90 minute trek to the base of Franz Josef glacier....home for lunch then a very relaxing 45 minutes in a private glacier hot pool....catch up with Internet then out for a steak restaurant....Fred enjoyed his special day!
