Renee & Eamon went to the dolphin feeding again, and today there were lots of them around. We packed up under a very cloudy and almost cool morning, said our goodbyes to Joe, Zoe & Sam and drove towards Kalbarri. We had a couple of places we'd not seen on the way to Monkey Mia, so dropped in this morning - and it actually rained - not enough to wet the ground though.
First stop was Shell Beach, an amazing pure white beach that has been created naturally from hundreds of millions of tiny sea shells (fragum cockles). Second stop was the Stromatolites built by living microbes in the Hemmelin Pool Precinct - they look like cauliflowers in the water!
For lunch we stopped at a very well kept place called Billabong Roadhouse - the food was the best on offer we have experienced and was good timing, as we had run out of bread. The afternoon remained overcast - a nice change from the hot weather of the past few weeks/months.
The road into Kalbarri was really nice, with lots of wildflowers on each side of the road. We checked into the Kalbarri Tudor Caravan Park and met Fred the parrot at reception; Renee & Eamon had some fun on the fantastic jumping pillow, while Mum & Dad relaxed and prepared a chicken stirfry for dinner, whilst planning the next week or so as our journey is almost complete, and we are flying out of Perth next Saturday!
