The sun rose about 5.30am this morning, so we were up very early and it was a hot one again! We had bacon & eggs at "The Steaky" to give us sustenance for the day.
Our first adventure was to Saddleback Ridge and Lookout - firstly crossing Pentecost River which involved navigating through a number of cows having a drink. The 3km dirt track gradually becomes more steep, eventually hitting about a 45 degree angle. We made it through the trickiest 4WD parts, and walked the final 400m to the viewing platform with a 360 degree view of the area. Driving back down, we had to be in low range 1st gear it was that steep!
Our next stop was Zebedee Springs - thermal pools that are really pretty, with little pools at various levels in the lush palms. It's only open from 7am to noon, and it was bit busy, but we found a great spot with a mini waterfall flowing into it.
Our afternoon adventure was spent at El Questro Gorge. The drive included a couple of deep water crossings which we all enjoyed. The walk into the gorge from the carpark is 1.6km and took about 45 mins. It's a very pleasant path alongside the creek and gradually becomes more difficult with the rocks and boulders becoming larger - lots of times we crossed the creek on big stepping stones, so it was a fun walk. At the end was a lovely swimming hole - cold compared to the springs, but very refreshing and we were the only people there.
We headed back to The Station for the usual cleansing ale and softdrink. We chilled out the rest of the afternoon. We had satellite internet access, so checked out how the election was going, and most importantly the result of Renee's netball Grand Final! Her team, the Starlings came runners-up after a hard battle with the Rhondos - Renee was sad she couldn't be there.
We enjoyed a yum BBQ dinner at the Swingin' Arm Bar and headed back to our 'Kangaroo' bungalow. We all hit the wall, and were asleep by 8.30pm!
