Relaxing start to the day with a bit of go-karting for Renee & Eamon around the caravan park, and bacon and eggs for breakfast all round. Today was spent visiting places in the northern part of the Margaret River area, starting with a winery that Mum couldn't resist due purely because of its interesting name - "Swings & Roundabouts". It was a great little place with a beaut lawn and games for Renee & Eamon to play including cricket, soccer, tether tennis, etc so that was handy while Mum & Dad tried some of the wine! It would have been lovely for lunch, but we had to keep moving with our next stop being Yallingup - another busy surfing area (and a shark spotting plane in the sky!) but great for coffee and a very different type of playground with a big wooden boat-like structure in it.
Further north was the Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse, and we did the 2km loop walk around it - pleasant enough, though the flies were abundant. On our way down to Dunsborough we dropped into Wise Vineyard for a tasting - it overlooks Geographe Bay and again the restaurant menu looked great. Mum struggled with the options in Busselton for lunch, but settled on a place called "The Goose Beach Bar + Kitchen" which was adjacent to the famous Busselton Jetty. The outlook was fantastic and the chilli squid, pork ribs, Vietnamese pulled pork sliders and chips were a big hit with all of us. Bonus for Renee & Eamon was the climbing rock just nearby which they utilised whilst Mum & Dad finished their beers!
Pushed for time for 1 more winery before closing at 5pm, we raced to "Howard Park & Mad Fish Wines" for a quick tasting - another beautiful property and the wines were okay as well. Back at Taunton Farm, a free sausage sizzle was on offer for New Year's Eve, so we took ourselves to the camp kitchen around 7pm and enjoyed dinner there, followed afterwards by the kids' movie on the lawn which for tonight was "Despicable Me 2".
A great final day of 2013 and looking forward to 2014.
