We woke up to a hot morning - it was 28 degrees by 10am. We lazed around and eventually decided on a course of action. Take Mum to the YMCA at Palmerston to do a 45 minute circuit class, while Dad, Renee & Eamon go to the Leanyer Water Park. That done, we all met up at the Palmerston Shopping Centre where we spent too much money at the surf shop on 'surf stuff', and had a late lunch.
We jumped in the car and drove into Darwin (we are staying about 20kms out of town), where we collected a parcel of mail from home from the GPO. We drove around a bit to get our bearings for activities over the next couple of days. The kids were desperate to get back to the Water Park to show Mum the slides, so we went back to the Leanyer Water Park - Mum was told by everyone that the red slide was best to do first, because it was slow and gentle. Mum thought that would be perfect. We had to go in pairs in a little blue floaty boat, so Eamon & Dad went first, followed by Renee & Mum. Mum got completely sucked in by the others, as the red slide was not slow and gentle at all - it was pitch black and fast! Once Mum recovered, we all did the red, blue, yellow slides and also had fun in the splash park, that had the biggest bucket ever!
The park closed at 6pm so that was our cue to leave. On the way home, we checked out the Howard Springs Nature Park, which is a newly created adventure playground not far from where we're staying. We spent a short time there and it's great - a couple of flying foxes, a lagoon, climbing wall, cascade waterfall - it was a nice relaxing end to a busy afternoon.
