Happiness Is The Road
Although there were spits of rain when we got up it soon cleared to leave a lovely day. After brekky we drove down to William Bay National Park and parked up at Greens Pool. We went on a short walk from here along the coast. Greens Pool is a natural pool of sea water that is sheltered from the pounding waves of the Southern Ocean by rounded rock boulders. It was beautiful and very quiet. From here we walked along a path and over a lot of rock boulders to Elephant Rocks. I came here back in November and was really looking forward to bringing Jay here as the rocks here are incredible. They really do look like a herd of elephants paddling in the shallow aquamarine waters looking out to the ocean. They were a stunning sight to see once again. After soaking up this wonderful place for a while we scrambled our way over the rocks back to Greens Pool and then went for a walk along the beach. It was a wild and dramatic place with debris thrown up on the beach. We then went back to the camper van, had some lunch, and drove to Lights Beach on the way back to the caravan park. The nice lady on the caravan park reception had recommended that we go here and we're really glad she did as it was an amazing place. There were a few little bays with lovely beaches here, dramatic coastal cliffs and the powerful Southern Ocean's surf up and crashing over the rocks. We met a lovely local lady at the car park who took our photo. We then went back to the caravan park and lazed around for the rest of the day with the kangaroos. Whilst we were lazing we saw one of the most hilarious and bizarre things that we have ever seen on this trip. Whilst we had been out a new caravan had turned up which was parked near the amenities block. We watched in stunned amazement as a guy came out of the caravan with a rake and proceeded to use it to flick the little balls of kangaroo poo that were on the grass away from him. He went all the way from his caravan to the amenities block creating a kangaroo poo free path for him and his wife to follow when they needed a poo! We couldn't believe what we were seeing. Now there was a lot of kangaroo poo on the grass but it doesn't smell and we had successfully navigated our way through it to the toilets and back loads of times without getting into a sticky mess with it. People are strange. The most funny thing was that after dark all the kangaroos came hopping over and proceeded to drop more of their little choclatey balls all over his pathway! We just hoped that Mr & Mrs Pooraker weren't taken short in the night! We were!, but despite the pooey obstacles we arrived back at the camper unscathed.
