Happiness Is The Road
It had continued raining through the night and the caravan park was even more of a quagmire in the morning. The spooky vibe continued when Jay went for a shower. Now Jay has had to put up with a lot of strange and disgusting things in the ladies amenities on this trip (belching, *******, grunting, groaning, slopping, aggressive nose blowing, psychotic muttering, peeping toms, thickos, Germans, talcum powder throwing contests, make up bags the size of suitcases, make up being trowled on, to name a few) but today things took on a sinister nature. Today she experienced a haunted shower. She swears that whilst in the shower something moved her clothes and pushed her shampoo and conditioner bottles into the corner!! This felt like a case for Scooby Doo! The locals didn't seem to want us here. We quickly ate a scooby snack brekky and screeched away from this place in our little mystery machine to a great big clap of thunder! (We didn't actually but we should have done). We had a quick look at a rainswept Bremer Bay, spotted some kangaroos, got some fuel and food and hit the highway. We had a drive of about 150 kilometres today to Cheynes Beach which I visited in November last year. As we got closer to the turn off for Cheynes Beach the rain eased and then stopped. The sun was breaking through as we arrived at the caravan park. Cheynes Beach is in a gorgeous little sheltered bay on the edge of the Waychinicup National Park. The lady on reception was really welcoming and friendly. She told me about the walking trails through the National Park and also showed me some photographs of whales that had been seen in the bay during the last few days. I was told that they came very close to the shore. This coastline is visited by great numbers of the Southern Right and Humpback whales. We could choose our own spot on the site and we drove through to a very quiet caravan park. Apart from a few permanent residents there was absolutely no one else here. We settled in on site 16 at the back of the park, the same spot that I had stayed in back in November. We could neither see nor hear anyone else and it was absolute bliss. I hoped that the kangaroos that were here last time would show their cute faces later on. There were none to be found at first as just after we arrived it started raining again. It rained on and off for the rest of the day. We did though see the gorgeous kangaroos later on just before dark. There were three of them loitering around the amenities block. It was great to be back at Cheynes Beach.
